Jose’s Passion for Music and How Ed Masterson Helped with The Dream A/V System

Jose Martinez is probably the most Passionate music listener and collector that I will meet in my lifetime.  Granted I am only into my third year as an Audiophile, but I believe you will also agree with me.  Florida Today newspaper did an exceptionally nice article about Jose and his collection here.

The video below shares the incredible extent of Jose’s library, how long ago he started it, the road to getting his ultimate theater system designed and the rare chance of how he met Ed Masterson of Audible Images to undertake the amazing project of the Ultimate theater.

On a  personal note, I have visited Jose’s home and listened to a theater demo a number of times, but the last one I experienced, was the most brief and also the most intense enjoyment of all.  Jose is the Master at giving demos for his system. We had a National and Regional Sales director from MartinLogan, and they had a plane to catch, their time was very limited, so Jose made the best of 45 minutes time.  After a few vinyl 2 channel masterpieces, and a few movie clips, Jose closed it out with a very emotional finale for me of feeling submersed in the Moment at the Concert if you will experience, of  “David Gilmour Live At Pompeii” from the incredible 2016 performance over 2 days.

The system is composed of Dan D’Agostino Momentum mono blocks, Audio Research, MartinLogan Neolith speakers, JL Audio Gothams, a 165 inch screen and a whole lot more.

Enjoy!

Audible Images AV customer Scott Hurley talks about Ed Masterson

Audible Images AV customer Scott Hurley talks about Ed Masterson’s Acoustic treatment and engineered approach to optimizing Scott’s listening room and Ultra High End system.

An interesting aspect in this wonderful customer testimonial, is how Scott actually had some nice high end gear, but the room was lacking in any engineered acoustic treatment and the most critical step of any AV system, the system tuning, had never been done by someone that was skilled & trained in the fine tuning of a system.

Enjoy the Video!

Passion or Obsession?, the Ultimate Loudspeaker demonstration of Wilson Audio’s “Wamms” with Audible Images AV

Taking a trip to hear the finest sounding Loudspeakers in the world made by Wilson Audio in the beautiful state of Utah, could be considered both passion and obsession.

Ed Masterson, passionate Audiophile had the opportunity to share a Wilson Audio “Wamm” demonstration in Provo Utah, with one of our wonderful customers, a couple of the Dr’s friends, and of course, Ed’s lovely Wife Erika, whom is not only a gifted fine art Photographer but also a talented Videographer/Editor in this case.

WAMM Demo with Audible Images AV and Wilson Audio - July 2018

The demonstration was in the home of the late Dave Wilson. Dave is almost universally regarded as the greatest loudspeaker designer of his generation, and the company he led is one of the most respected and admired in its industry. (Their website and a special bio about Dave is here at Wilson Audio. )

This opportunity to hear the “Wamms” was a rare gift for any High End Stereo showroom owner, but for Ed it was perhaps a culmination for his passion as an Audiophile. (well that and to hear the “Relentless” amplifiers 🙂 )

We thank Erika for the beautiful and concise clip of the presentation. (her fine art website is http://erikamasterson.com )

If you would like to browse our showroom , visit the Listening Rooms page here.

We also encourage you to come in and hear a demonstration of the Wilson Audio “Alexx” speakers that we have in our “Transporter” listening room.

I would like to give credit to the family friend of Ed and Erika, their friend Jay, providing the beautiful acoustic guitar music in the video.

Quick Takes with Ed Masterson: Noise Issues – Part 4

The Question asked was: How does having a separate power supply (2 parts) from the amplifier or pre-amp chassis translate to better Sound Quality?

Noise is everywhere and it is an enemy of the audiophile. Noise gets into a system in components, cables, RF and many other ways.

In this great four part series Ed addresses noise with some great tips on how to eliminate it.

In this issue, we are discussing the purpose behind having a separate power supply from the preamps or ampilifer in the Dan D’Agostino Master Audio products.

Quick Takes with Ed Masterson #7: Speaker placement can NEVER be underestimated.

How can the results of proper Speaker placement be mind blowing?

Try putting the Martin Logan “CLX’s” in the same location as the Wilson Audio “Yvettes”, and you may not get the results that you want!

Speaker placement is without question, a major part of fine tuning your system.

It’s also a lot of fun and totally satisfying, right when you find that Sweet Spot!

Quick Takes with Ed Masterson #7: Speaker placement can NEVER be underestimated.

What we shared in the Quick Take:

Question asked:

How big a difference is it with your angle and positioning for the Martin Logan “CL X’s” versus the Wilson Audio “Yvette’s”?

I mean can you put them just in your same marked place on your floor? When you talk about these two different types of speakers, those are two very different designs and it’s the way they send the sound in the room the way they you know generate the sound energy in the room is different. And the physical size differences also are a constraint with placement. (Note: conversational typed text content is a bit different than typical written type content)

You know generally what we found is there are certain areas in the room that represent you know the places where speakers would sound their best. And that can be heard just for the human voice. You can walk around the room and you’ll see my markings on the floor if you stand in that box you can hear your voice sounds more natural than other places in the room and so that’s true with speakers too but then some speakers need bass reinforcement in certain areas to really sound right so you know the positioning of an electrostatic speaker versus that (pointing to the Yvette speaker) would be much different from you know , so the
toe-in angles are dramatically different with electrostatics, we usually just want a little sliver of the panel facing us but with the Wilson’s the speaker should be
pointing directly at you you know virtually maybe just a little bit past the sides but you know a lot different in that regard and the way the electrostatics fill the space is different to you, you know they image differently they don’t have pinpoint imaging they have sort of a large diffuse image which you know compared to
what you hear live some people might argue that sounds more real, the Wilson stuff is almost so pinpoint that it’s almost unbelievable you know, you think it’s  to pinpoint for some people, to me it sounds I think more real but you know, there’s other strengths to the electrostatics that do some pretty special things.

I just distinctly noticed when we were in the “Escape Pod” room and the way you have the CLX’s is almost like pointed just straight to the back of the room first not CL X’s in there, but the classics the or the other classic it’d be kind of hard to get CLX’s in there, now my theater room that’s fifteen by nineteen roughly so they’re a little big in there but they get it, they’re a little too tight in this space this is only about thirteen feet and I feel like they’re too close together for me you know I like them a little bit further part visually…the end.

Quick Takes with Ed Masterson: Noise Issues – Part 2

How would you go about locating areas that can cause system noise and then how would you eliminate it?

Noise is everywhere and it is an enemy of the audiophile. Noise gets into a system in components, cables, RF and many other ways.

In this excellent four part series Ed addresses noise with some great tips on where to look for it and how to eliminate it.

Ed’s Passion as an Audiophile coupled with his Electrical Engineering from UCF really works well for design forethought, and troubleshooting skills later on. I see it everyday. (Art – I’m the guy posting these videos, and also the former roommate at UCF a long time ago 🙂

Quick Takes with Ed Masterson: Noise Issues – Part 3

Whenever we look at reducing noise in an Audio (stereo) system, it’s because in the end, we want our sound quality to go up, Right?

So, when we take a look at some high end gear, as Audiophiles, and we ask the question, why do they have a separate Power Supply from the Amplifier, in Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems electronics?

It comes back to the fact, that noise is everywhere and it is an enemy of the audiophile. Noise gets into a system in components, cables, RF and many other ways.

In this excellent four part series Ed addresses noise with some great tips on how to eliminate it. And here in part 3:

Enjoy Ed’s explanation as an Electrical Engineer Audiophile, regarding some of the components in high end gear, why some components are separate and their purpose in Audio electronics, so that you may gain some powerful insight.
